Unlike other types of windows, these can fortify homes against straight-line winds, hurricanes and intruders. They are also easy to clean and maintain.
The Green Cove Springs Historic District is locally significant under Criterion A in the areas of commerce, entertainment/recreation, politics/government, religion and social history. Most of the contributing commercial buildings are in the Masonry Vernacular style.
More Natural Light
Having access to natural light can have a profound effect on our well-being. Studies have shown that exposure to sunlight improves our mood, sleep, and performance. This is why many homeowners are choosing to replace their windows with Casement Windows Green Cove Springs FL.
Unlike double hung and sliding windows, Casement windows are hinged on the side and open outward like a door. They are easy to operate and perfect for hard-to-reach areas like above kitchen sinks. They can be opened and closed with a simple crank, and the sashes can be easily cleaned from the interior.
The multi-chambered sash and mainframe of these windows create insulating air spaces for superior energy efficiency. Combined with ENERGY STAR rated glass packages, they provide year-round performance and help reduce your energy bills. These windows are also designed with laminated impact glass to protect against intruders, straight-line winds, hurricanes, and noise. They are built to last and are backed by a manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty.
A Good Seal
When you have casement windows installed, they produce a tight seal that keeps moisture and humidity out of your property. This keeps your interior comfortable, and it will also help you save money on your energy bills.
The Green Cove Springs Historic District consists of two noncontiguous elements that include the most historically and architecturally significant residential, commercial, governmental, and recreational resources in the city. It contains seventeen contributing buildings, of which all but one are constructed in the Carpenter Gothic style. These are concentrated in a three block area bounded by Center and Walnut Streets on the north and south, and by St. Johns and Orange Avenues on the east and west.
These commercial buildings are primarily Masonry Vernacular, except for the Appleseed Antiques shop on Magnolia Avenue (photo 6). Its Carpenter Gothic styling is expressed by a moderately pitched front-facing gable roof with open eaves and wood shingle surfacing. The gable dormers feature triangular louvered vents.
A Beautiful Design
Unlike sliding windows, casement windows can be opened all the way and provide full ventilation for your home. They can also be easily cleaned and maintained due to their design. Moreover, they are one of the most energy-efficient types of windows available. This is primarily because of their low-E glass, durable frames, perfect seal technology and weatherstripping.
A high-style building that survived the decline of Green Cove Springs as a tourist destination is the Oui-Si-Sana Hotel at 321 Walnut Street (photos 20-21). Replacing the Clarendon Hotel, it was constructed in 1907 as a large square masonry building with a side gable roof and a central courtyard.
The Green Cove Springs Historic District encompasses 113 contributing buildings. These historic commercial, governmental, recreational and religious properties are located in the area bounded by St. Elmo Street on the north, Center and Walnut streets on the south, and North St. Johns and Orange Avenues on the east. The oldest building in the district is a two-story residence built between 1869 and 1884.
A More Energy-Efficient Window
The design of Casement windows allows them to keep out air and water, preventing energy loss. Their operation is also much easier than sliding or lifting a sash because of their crank handle. When open, they let in the breeze and can be opened from multiple directions.
They are ideal for a contemporary look and can be made more traditional with the right grille pattern or hardware accents. They’re perfect for homes in Florida and the Southeast. Our casement windows are available in ENERGY STAR and Green Seal certified glass. This prevents the sun’s harmful UV rays from fading carpeting and furniture.
New energy efficient replacement windows will reduce your utility bills, increase your home’s value and make it a better place to live. What’s not to love about that? It’s a no brainer.
